If you have upgraded to Catalina, it will ONLY recognize 64bit.

Prior versions, e.g.

High Sierra or Mojave will allow 32bit software to run, but you will get occasional warnings saying to check with software developer for 64 bit versions.

I do not know if running such stuff as BootCamp or Parallels will allow 32bit Windoze software to run on the machine, as I do not go there.
